    About This Site

AskHYS.net is an online system designed to help you access, analyze and disseminate HYS data. State and county-level HYS data is available to everyone. Individuals with a professional interest in adolescent health and safety—who would like access to school district and building level data—must contact school districts directly for special permissions. The system will suppress any data that has the potential to compromise participating students' anonymity.

    Fact Sheets

AskHYS.net contains a set of 1-page, pre-formatted reports on various adolescent behavior topic areas such as, alcohol use, bullying, and diet. Each report contains trended and some state comparisons.

    Q x Q Analysis

AskHYS.net also has an interactive data query system. The Q x Q allow users run analysis and produce results that answer questions they have about adolescent student behaviors.

The site contains data from 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008.

    • A committee of six state agencies sponsors the HYS: including the Office Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), Department of Health (DOH), Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR), Department of Commerce, Family Policy Council, and Liquor Control Board (LCB).
    • Approximately 200,000 sixth, eighth, tenth, and twelfth grade Washington students participate in HYS every other year.
